Operation Dream is a non-profit organization founded in 1994 by the San Francisco Police Department Housing Task Force. Although affiliated with the San Francisco Police Department, Operation Dream is an independent non-profit organization that is funded solely through private donations and fundraising activities.

Operation Dream is a truly community-based and community-oriented organization, serving San Francisco's twelve public housing developments, HUD properties and other low-income areas. Our mission is to enrich the lives of the nearly 4,200 at-risk children under the age of 13 who live in these troubled and at times violent environments. We were founded by a core group of San Francisco police officers that, tired of repeatedly arresting generations of family members, decided to actively affect social change through engaging the community in a positive way.

Today, our dedicated efforts include a wide range of educational, leadership and extra-curricular activities such as computer training and conflict resolution workshops, self-esteem camps, mentoring programs, skiing and camping trips. We believe that through these efforts, our children are given the invaluable opportunity to be a child for a day, in an environment free of risk and violence. Through engaging these children in a positive way, they gain a much-needed sense of hope and accomplishment that they would not otherwise have. Operation Dream believes that we are making a difference, one child at a time.
